Chris

A Native Austinite and military Veteran, Chris serves his country and his community. Chris specialized in immigration law in helping those in need regarding immigration issues. He possesses his Federal License in the Western District of Texas to assist those who require additional legal support. Chris continues to maintain his knowledge in public policy and affairs; this Summer, Chris will Graduate from the University of Texas at Austin from the LBJ school with his Master’s in Public Affairs. He seeks to sharpen his immigration policy skills by following the most updated immigration policies to assist those worldwide.

Prior to law school, Chris attended the University of Texas at San Antonio. During college, Chris was an active member of Student Government, Phi Alpha Delta (pre-law Fraternity), Kappa Sigma, UTSA Volunteer Society, and stayed active by playing intramural soccer. Chris was admitted into The Institute for Law and Public Affairs, a two-Summer program, which allowed Chris to receive a certificate in legal reasoning after rigorous studies in: Constitutional law, Business law, Legal reasoning, Civil Jurisprudence, and Law in Society. Chris studied abroad, and participated in Semester at Sea (SAS) through the University of Pittsburgh. SAS enabled Chris the opportunity to experience over 13 countries around the world and engage with locals to gain a global insight on life, an experience that expanded and furthered Chris’s background to help people.

After College, Chris joined The United States Army. He was selected to attend Officer Candidate School (OCS) in Fort Benning, Ga. After receiving his commission in June 2009, Chris was assigned to 1-7 Cavalry and subsequently deployed to Iraq in 2011 for Operation New Dawn with the First Brigade Combat Team, under the First Cavalry Division out of Fort Hood, TX. After his active-duty time, Chris transitioned into the Texas Army National Guard, where he commanded a Headquarters Support Company (HSC) of over 205 soldiers for an Aviation Battalion. Chris returned from his second deployment in the middle east supporting Operation Spartan Shield as the Deputy G-7, Information Operations Officer.

Chris and The Mendez Law Group advocate for people in the areas of family law, Criminal law, Commercial litigation, and Immigration. The Mendez law group believes it is important to give back to the community, that is why you will see Chris, Bryan, and Gavino volunteer their time twice a month to assist people in the community with legal services.

Gavino

Mr. Gavino Mendez is a native Austinite who grew up in the east side of Austin, Texas. He is fluent in Spanish which allows him to provide legal services to the Latin community. He founded the Law Office of Gavino Mendez in May 2003 with the objective of providing affordable legal services to individuals with limited resources but with a need for legal representation in family law matters. Mr. Mendez’s primary focused is assisting families in reach amicable resolutions to family issues including, but not limited to, divorce, custody determinations, child support, adoptions, child protective services cases and possession and access to children, always keeping the children’s best interest the overriding factor. In 2017, the Mendez Law Group, LLP was founded after Mr. Mendez joined forces with his two sons who also became attorneys.

Mr. Mendez’s experience includes work in the fields of family and criminal law. While in law school Mr. Mendez interned at the Headquarters Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Legal Office and the Rio Grande Legal Aid Office. Prior to attending law school Mr. Mendez worked for the Hq Texas DPS Criminal Law Enforcement Division.

Mr. Mendez has sat on the Board of Directors with the Women’s Advocacy Project and currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Lawyer Referral Service of Central Texas. He has volunteered with the Rio Grande Legal Aid and Volunteer Legal Services clinic for 15 years, continuing to volunteer twice a month at the legal aid clinic held on Mondays at Martin Middle School. Mr. Mendez is also a volunteer with the Lawyer Referral Service of Central Texas’s Legal Line call in show held every 1st Tuesday of each month.

Mr. Mendez earned his juris doctorate from the University of Houston Law School in December 2002 after two and a half years. Mr. Mendez attended law school after retiring from the United States Air Force after serving over 20 years on active duty, most of that time spent as a paralegal apprentice and paralegal technician in the Air Force Judge Advocate General’s division retiring as the Headquarters Air and Education Training Command Paralegal Manger and a member of the Inspector General’s team.

Bryan

Bryan is an experienced estate planning and probate attorney with upwards of 10 years of experience in the field. He received her law degree from a top-tier law school and has been licensed to practice in Texas for almost a decade. During his career, he has helped numerous individuals and families with their estate planning needs, providing customized solutions that fit their unique circumstances. He has also handled a variety of probate cases, from simple to complex, in those situations where probate was necessary due to the lack of an estate plan, or otherwise.

 

Bryan has extensive experience in all aspects of estate planning, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and other legal documents. He helps clients minimize taxes and avoid probate while ensuring that their assets are distributed according to their wishes. That said, he also has a deep understanding of probate law, helping clients navigate the complex probate process, including cases involving probate administration, will contests, and heirship determinations.

 

Bryan is committed to providing his clients with personalized service and effective legal representation. He believes that estate planning is not a one-size-fits-all solution and works closely with his clients to create customized plans that meet their specific needs. He also understands that the probate process can be emotionally challenging for families and works hard to make that process as smooth and stress-free as possible. He takes a personalized approach to every case, working closely with his clients to understand their unique needs and goals.

 

In his free time, Bryan enjoys playing soccer, reading, and spending time with his family and friends. He is also active in his local community, volunteering with non-profit organizations such as Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas.
